EU begins five-week exercise to test complex crisis coordination
Integrated Resolve 2026 runs from October 19 through November 20 and uses scenarios inside and outside the European Union.
The European Union began the 2026 edition of its Integrated Resolve crisis-management exercise on October 19. The European Commission’s civil-protection and humanitarian-aid department says the exercise is scheduled to continue through November 20.
The program tests responses to a complex crisis involving hybrid threats, with scenarios both within the EU and beyond its borders. Its purpose is to exercise response measures and coordination mechanisms rather than describe an actual emergency unfolding in the places used for those scenarios.
The Commission links the exercise to the Preparedness Union strategy and an integrated approach that includes international partners. The emphasis is on how institutions and partners work together when a crisis crosses policy areas or geographic boundaries.

Cybersecurity Career Week opens with mentoring and career-pathway resources
The October 19–24 campaign focuses on practical routes into cybersecurity rather than promising job placement.
Cybersecurity Career Week began October 19 and continues through October 24, the National Institute of Standards and Technology announced. Coordinated by its NICE program, the campaign brings together government, education, nonprofit and industry participants to explain cybersecurity work and the learning routes that can lead to it.
The program highlights multiple pathways and credentials rather than presenting one qualification as a universal entry ticket. Its Open One Door project encourages professionals, educators and employers to take practical steps such as providing mentoring, introductions or hands-on experience.

The regulator has received a preliminary account but has not reached a regulatory judgment.
Ofgem outlined the next phase of its electricity-system review on October 19 after receiving the National Energy System Operator’s preliminary account of events during the week beginning June 22. The new development is the review update, not a claim that the summer heat events occurred this week.
The regulator will examine system security, operational planning and decisions, electricity flows through interconnectors, demand forecasts, generation availability and balancing services. Ofgem says it has not yet reached conclusions or regulatory judgments about the events described in the preliminary report.
