Colorado State University co-leads NASA agricultural-emissions research
An upcoming Texas campaign will study gases and particles exchanged between farms and the atmosphere.
Colorado State University is one of three joint leads on NASA’s FarmFlux mission, the agency reported in an October 15 notice. NASA Goddard and Boston University are the other lead institutions.
The next announced campaign will use a Dynamic Aviation A200 aircraft near Transit, Texas, from October 22 through November 9. Its sensor package will examine agricultural gases and particles, including methane and ammonia.
The Colorado connection is the university’s scientific leadership. The notice does not establish a Colorado flight schedule, report a local pollution violation or identify a particular farm as responsible for a measured change.

UK technology employers pledge 10,000 youth work experiences
The three-year commitment accompanies a wider skills plan, but the government’s 20,000 annual entry-level-job figure remains a target.
The UK government announced on October 21 that technology employers have committed to offer 10,000 workplace experiences over the next three years. EU seeks evidence on bio-based feedstock for plastic packaging
The consultation runs through January 13 and could inform future measures, but the Commission has not yet proposed a binding target.
The European Commission opened a public consultation on October 21 about the role of bio-based feedstock in plastic packaging. Responses are due by January 13, 2027, and will contribute to a review required by the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
Officials are requesting evidence on feedstock availability, technical performance, sourcing, environmental effects and the consequences of different regulatory approaches. The review will also consider recycling technologies and the trade-offs involved when fossil inputs are replaced with material derived from biological resources.
