NASA schedules low-flying emissions research over Texas farmland
FarmFlux plans measurements near Transit from October 22 through November 9.
NASA announced October 15 that a Dynamic Aviation A200 aircraft will make low-altitude research flights over farmland near Transit, Texas. The planned flight window runs from October 22 through November 9.
The FarmFlux mission will carry more than a dozen sensors to measure gases and particles associated with agricultural activity. Target measurements include ozone, methane, ammonia and particulates from crop and livestock operations.
NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Colorado State University and Boston University jointly lead the mission. The flights are intended to improve understanding of exchanges between agriculture and the atmosphere.

EU opens consultation on using more manure-derived liquid fertilizer
The proposed change would retain environmental conditions and still requires review before adoption.
The European Commission opened public feedback on October 19 on a proposed change to rules for certain liquid fertilizers recovered from livestock manure. The initiative would give member states more flexibility under the Nitrates Directive while retaining conditions intended to protect the environment.
The proposal concerns selected liquid fractions of digestate, the material remaining after organic matter is processed to make biogas or biomethane. It is not a blanket exemption for all manure or all digestate. The materials concerned would need to satisfy requirements for recovered nitrogen, including their mineral-nitrogen and organic-material characteristics.

Cybersecurity Career Week opens with mentoring and career-pathway resources
The October 19–24 campaign focuses on practical routes into cybersecurity rather than promising job placement.
Cybersecurity Career Week began October 19 and continues through October 24, the National Institute of Standards and Technology announced. Coordinated by its NICE program, the campaign brings together government, education, nonprofit and industry participants to explain cybersecurity work and the learning routes that can lead to it.
The program highlights multiple pathways and credentials rather than presenting one qualification as a universal entry ticket. Its Open One Door project encourages professionals, educators and employers to take practical steps such as providing mentoring, introductions or hands-on experience.
