National wildfire figures fell in several measures in the October 31 morning report. Seven large fires remained uncontained, while four large incidents were reported contained. There were no new large incidents in the reporting period.
Initial-attack activity totaled 43 fires. The resource summary counted 486 personnel, a reduction of 95, alongside three crews, 28 engines and two helicopters. National preparedness remained at Level 1, although some coordination areas continued at Level 2.
The Northwest accounted for 216 personnel, down 88. The Eastern Area listed 103 and the Southern Area 139. These assignments describe the incidents included in the national operational summary, rather than all firefighting work underway in every community.
The figures were issued at 7:30 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time and can change as reporting and operations continue. Fewer assigned resources and fewer uncontained incidents do not establish safety at a particular fire. The national preparedness rating is not a substitute for local incident instructions.
