Conditional federal loan includes Beaver Valley nuclear upgrades
The Pennsylvania plant is part of a proposed $4.2 billion financing package for modernization and additional capacity.
The Beaver Valley nuclear plant in Pennsylvania is included in a U.S. Department of Energy conditional loan commitment of up to $4.2 billion for Vistra facilities in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Across the three plants, the proposed modernization and uprate work is expected to preserve nearly four gigawatts of existing generation and add 433 megawatts. DOE also projects about 3,000 project jobs across the portfolio.
The commitment is not a final loan closing. Funding depends on completion of technical, legal, environmental and financial conditions, and operating extensions remain subject to separate regulatory decisions.
