Remembrance Sunday notice sets out Cenotaph ceremony and veterans’ march

The UK government’s November 8 announcement describes a national silence and participation by military and civilian organisations.

Oakland Sun · News Desk

The UK government’s November 8 notice sets out arrangements for the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London. It identifies the King as leading the two-minute silence, with members of the Royal Family, senior politicians and faith representatives taking part in the commemoration.

The announced Royal British Legion March Past includes approximately 10,000 veterans and representation from more than 300 military and civilian organisations. The notice describes participants spanning generations, including children, cadets and some surviving Second World War veterans. These are the government’s published arrangements and expected participation, rather than an independently counted attendance total.

The service commemorates people who died or suffered in conflicts involving British and Commonwealth forces. The government also lists television coverage for people unable to attend the London event or a local service. Its announcement supplies the national programme; it does not establish that any particular town follows an identical schedule or that every planned element has been completed.
