Wyoming incident enters large-fire report as national staffing declines

The November 8 assessment lists Foot Creek, four uncontained large fires nationwide and 338 incident personnel.

Oakland Sun · News Desk

A Wyoming fire appears as a new large incident in the November 8 federal situation report, even as reported staffing across active incidents declines. Foot Creek, in the Bighorn National Forest ten miles west of Buffalo, is listed at 532 acres and 41% containment. The report describes threatened residences and road closures.

Nationally, initial attack activity totals 23 fires. Four large fires remain uncontained, and none is newly reported contained. The national preparedness level is 1. The active-incident resource table records 338 personnel, a reduction of 53 from the preceding report; it does not count every firefighter employed across the country.

Foot Creek has 85 personnel assigned. In New Hampshire, the Wild River entry records 856 acres, 20% containment and minimal behavior involving smoldering. Such incident estimates describe the reporting snapshot. They do not establish that roads elsewhere are closed or that the same fire conditions apply to every community receiving this national coverage.
