National wildfire staffing continued to decline in the November 1 morning report. The active-incident resource summary listed 382 personnel, down 104, while six large fires remained uncontained. One large incident was reported contained and no new large incidents were listed.
Initial-attack activity totaled 58 fires. Assigned resources in the summary included two crews, 16 engines and two helicopters. National preparedness stayed at Level 1, although individual coordination areas had their own preparedness ratings.
The Northwest accounted for 151 personnel, compared with 216 in the preceding report. The Southern Area listed 121 and the Eastern Area 96. These are assignments to incidents in the operational summary, rather than a count of all firefighting personnel nationwide.
The report is dated November 1 at 7:30 a.m. and labels its time zone MDT. Its figures are a reporting snapshot, not a guarantee of conditions later in the day. Local incident instructions remain necessary even when national staffing and uncontained-fire totals decline.
