UK veterans can add service identification to their phones

A November 7 government update reports more than 23,000 digital cards downloaded, with the physical card still available.

UK veterans considering a digital service card must first complete the physical-card process. Once that application has been processed and the card dispatched, they can request the phone version through the GOV.UK One Login app. The digital option is voluntary, and the physical card remains usable.

The government reported on November 7 that downloads have exceeded 23,000 since the digital service began in October 2025. That is a cumulative figure for an existing service, rather than the number issued on November 7 or the announcement of a new launch.

The card provides evidence of veteran status for participating businesses and services. Uses described by the government include discounts and demonstrating that status during GP registration or when seeking relevant health support. Acceptance and offers differ between organisations, so possession of the card does not establish a universal discount or entitlement. Veterans should confirm the arrangements with the organisation they plan to use.
