NASA announced October 15 that a Dynamic Aviation A200 aircraft will make low-altitude research flights over farmland near Transit, Texas. The planned flight window runs from October 22 through November 9.

The FarmFlux mission will carry more than a dozen sensors to measure gases and particles associated with agricultural activity. Target measurements include ozone, methane, ammonia and particulates from crop and livestock operations.

NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Colorado State University and Boston University jointly lead the mission. The flights are intended to improve understanding of exchanges between agriculture and the atmosphere.

The notice describes research, not a finding that a particular farm violated emissions rules. The Texas flights are planned operations; additional aircraft work in the Midwest and California is scheduled for the 2027 growing season.
