The national wildfire situation report for November 6 lists 57 initial-attack fires, including 40 in the Eastern Area. It recorded no new large incidents or newly contained large fires in the reporting interval. Four large fires were listed as uncontained, down from five in Thursday’s national snapshot.
The active-incident resource table lists 342 personnel nationwide, three fewer than Thursday. Eastern Area assignments rose by 49 to 179, while the Northwest had 104 personnel and the Southern Area had 58. The national preparedness level was 1.
The Wild River fire in New Hampshire was listed at 856 acres and 20 percent containment. The report attributes the lower acreage estimate to improved mapping; the change should not be read as a reversal of the area already burned.
