The Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development arm reported nearly $25 billion in loans and grants during fiscal 2026. The largest categories were $10.9 billion for rural housing programs and $9.7 billion for electric infrastructure.
USDA also listed $1.3 billion for water and wastewater systems, $1.8 billion for business programs, $897.8 million for community facilities and $267 million for telecommunications. Another $100.5 million went to disaster-recovery projects.
The figures describe agency financing activity across the fiscal year rather than a single new appropriation or one-day distribution. Individual programs use different mixtures of loans, guarantees and grants, so the headline total should not be read as unrestricted grant spending.
State Rural Development offices are expected to release additional project-level details. Those local records will make it possible to evaluate where the financing went and whether stated construction, service and economic outcomes are completed.
