The national wildfire situation report issued at 7:30 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time on October 29 recorded eight uncontained large fires. One new large incident was reported and two large fires were contained. Initial-attack activity totaled 39 fires.
The active-incident resource summary listed 673 personnel, down 189 from the preceding report. It recorded three crews, 52 engines and five helicopters. The Northwest accounted for 314 personnel, while the Eastern and Southern areas listed 137 and 152 respectively.
National preparedness remained at Level 1. The Northwest resource count fell by 190 personnel, whereas staffing in the Southern Area increased by 27. These movements show that a national decline can coexist with additional resources assigned in particular areas.
The report provides a time-specific operational picture rather than a forecast for every community. Resource totals describe the incidents included in its summary, and containment can change as crews work. National preparedness levels should not be read as confirmation that a particular fire or location is safe.
